Events
- Jean-Luc Picard is contacted by Dahj and shortly thereafter is targeted by the Zhat Vash. He hires a starship, La Sirena under Captain Cris Rios, and travels to Vashti in the company of his former first officer Raffi Musiker and cyberneticist Agnes Jurati. At Vashti, he enlists the help of Elnor, a Romulan swordsman. After fighting off a Romulan bird-of-prey, they rescue Seven of Nine, a Fenris Ranger who came to their defense. Continuing on, they find Bruce Maddox on Freecloud, where Seven confronts Bjayzl. Seven remains behind and La Sirena continues on the Artifact, a derelict Borg cube owned by the Romulans and administrated by Hugh. Picard meets Soji as she escapes Narek's death trap, and the pair escapes to Nepenthe while Elnor confronts the Zhat Vash assassin Narissa. Elnor eventually summons Seven for help in commandeering the cube after Narissa kills Hugh. La Sirena makes for Nepenthe, while Narek pursues them using the tracking signature Commodore Oh convinced Agnes to ingest. Oh's mind-meld compels Agnes to kill Maddox, and afterwards she used a deadly injection to nullify the tracker. On Nepenthe, Picard visits Will Riker and Deanna Troi and Kestra Riker-Troi convinces Soji to trust Picard. Rios is devastated by the memory of his departure from Starfleet and the betrayal of Agnes Jurati, and Musiker attempts to find out the secret of Rios's last mission from his holograms. Pursued by the Romulans, Soji takes La Sirena to her home where they meet Alton Soong and meet the secret synth society of Coppelius. La Sirena and the Artifact cube are taken down from orbit by the genetically engineered plant defenses there, and a Starfleet force led by USS Zheng He keeps the Romulans at bay while the La Sirena crew dissuade the androids from summoning the extradimensional AI that the Zhat Vash feared. Picard dies from Irumodic Syndrome and is reanimated in a synth body after having a conversation with the disembodied consciousness of Data, who convinces Picard to deactivate Data's matrix.[3]
