- A sleeper ship is launched towards Alpha Centauri, one of the last such missions due to advances in propulsion technology.[2]
- 2018 was the beginning of a rash of baseball team bankruptcies, which would culminate in a total of four teams going defunct between 2018 and 2023.[3]
- 2018 marked the last known case of a Human taking a photograph of a Vulcan probe ship, the 18th such event to happen since the year 1955.[4]
- A suspected comet, C/2018-G2, is first observed by Human NASA scientists on the planet Earth.[5]
