Background information
- On 5 April 2021, the third season was announced. [1]
- On 13 July 2022, the release date for the season was revealed as being August 25. [2]
- In the opening title sequence, the battle involving the Borg, the Romulans, the Pakleds, and the Klingons has been changed to include a Crystalline Entity. This portion of the sequence has been different for all seasons thus far.
- Continuing from last season, a series of "Star Trek Logs" began being released on Instagram throughout the season. These short videos consist of in-universe personal log recordings from the main cast, posted after each new episode. [3]
Awards
On 17 January 2023, the International Animated Film Society nominated Lower Decks for the Annie Awards in the category of Best Editorial for the episode "The Stars At Night", [4][5], though for unknown reasons, that was later changed to a nomination for "The Least Dangerous Game", with nominee Brandon Brocker replaced by Caleb Yoder.
