A borhya was a soul or ghost in Bajoran mythology.
When Ro Laren and Geordi La Forge were accidentally cloaked by an interphase generator in 2368, Ro believed that they were dead and were walking the ship as borhyas. She recalled once dismissing borhyas as superstition passed on to children. (TNG: "The Next Phase")
Shaxs owned a set of Bajoran tarot cards, one of which depicted a borhya. (LD: "Empathological Fallacies")
Hilary J. Bader's script for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Harbinger mentions that Bajoran belief holds that a person's borhyas goes to the Celestial Temple when they die.
