- Doctor Susan Nuress continues her pioneering research on plasma plague following a second epidemic on Oby VI. She proves successful in isolating a cure for the victims of the plague. (TNG: "The Child")
As evidenced by the first draft script of VOY: "Flashback", events concerning the USS Excelsior in that installment were originally to have taken place in this year. However, they were changed to being set in 2293 by the time the final draft of the installment's script was issued.
