Plot Summary

Long ago, an intergalactic court of law had declared Grrket, a violent alien monster, guilty for the destruction of countless planets across the universe. Grrkek, proud of his reputation as a destroyer, releases himself from his restraints and attempts to attack everyone at the hearing, but the judge uses a special containment device to trap Grrkek.

Millennia later, that device is found by Coop at a garage sale and Coop, believing it to be a video game, buys it, even though the owner says that the game doesn't fit into any known console. Meanwhile, Kiva is trying to buy new clothes to appear less conspicuous to the people of the 21st century and asks to be taken to mall, much to Jamie's chagrin. Coop drops Kiva and Jamie at the mall while he drives home to test out his new game.

Jamie attempts to dress Kiva up in ridiculous clothing just to make fun of her, only to discover that people like how she looks in those clothes. Kiva, however, is interested in clothes that can provide protection in the middle of a fight and she causes Jamie and herself to get kicked out of the mall by a security guard.

Meanwhile, Coop finds a console that can play his new game, but ends up releasing Grrkek from his prison. Megas fights Grrkek, while Kiva and Jamie return home and watch the battle from the streets. Kiva runs back to Coop's basement and discovers that his new game in fact a prison for dangerous alien criminals. Kiva and Jamie board Megas while Coop succeeds in blasting Grrkek with an energy beam that seals Grrkek in a cocoon.

As Coop and Kiva attempt to return Grrkek to his prison, Jamie accidentally interferes with Megas' control and releases the other prisoners. To stop more prisoners from breaking out, Coop shatters the cartridge, despite Kiva's warnings that the cartridge was the only place where they could be contained. Coop decides to fight all the prisoners single-handledly, capture them, compress them into a large ball and throw them across Jersey City's bay.

Suddenly, Grrkek awakens from his hibernation state, more powerful than ever. Coop attempts to stop him once again, but none of Megas' attacks cause Grrkek any damage. Grrkek starts to generate a fusion reaction that, if left unchecked, will destroy the entire planet. Kiva suggests cooling Grrkek to avert his explosive attack, but Coop has nothing to cool Grrkek with. Suddenly, a massive wave, caused by the ball thrown by Megas earlier, floods the entire city. Grrkek's fusion reaction is dissolved and Grrkek himself loses his powers. Kiva wonders what are they gonna do with Grrkek now that they can't trap in his old prison, but Coop has a better idea: trap him inside a video game based on a preschool show.

End credits

The monsters previously defeated by Megas and thrown into Jersey City's bay eventually make it to Philadelphia and start another rampage.

Trivia/References

  • The alien captioning at the opening screen of the containment device reads, "HAVE YOU PLAYED ATARI TODAY"
  • Grrkek is based on the Kajiu
  • One of the monsters is based off of Gamera, a giant monster from Japanese movies.
  • Among the game consoles Coop attempts to play the "video game" on are a PlayStation 2, a Nintendo GameCube, a Nintendo Entertainment System, and a Sega Genesis, before finally loading the intergalactic prison cartridge on an 8-track player of all things. The prison itself vaguely resembles an Atari 2600 cartridge.
