Ladders (はしご / ハシゴ Hashigo) are a common mechanic in the Mega Man franchise. Ladders often appears as bars that can be climbed to reach higher or lower areas. Mega Man, X, Zero, and other playable characters are able to shoot and jump from the ladder. A charge shot can be held while climbing a ladder.
Strategy
Ladders can be used to be able to stay out of the firing range of many enemies, while shooting and destroying them from the safety of the ladder. It can also be useful to consider if you can fire from a more advantageous angle while hanging on a ladder, rather than advancing forward. When climbing down from a ladder, especially to a new screen, it's a good idea to wait to drop off of them and survey your surroundings.
