Boomer, known as Rounder (ラウンダ,Raunda) in Japan, is a virus from the Mega Man Battle Network series. It moves vertically in the column it starts in, and once it reaches either edge of the field, it attacks by shooting a boomerang that travels along the field's outer walls, hitting every panel except for those in the middle. Starting in Mega Man Battle Network 4, it can also stop in the middle row and shoot a boomerang straight forward if it is the only virus left on the battlefield.
It is invulnerable until it releases its boomerang as part of its attack, at the end of which it catches the boomerang and is once again invulnerable. Stronger variants of this virus utilize PanelGrab chips, stealing panels in the center row. While their attack is Wood element and will deal double damage to Elec Styles in Mega Man Battle Network 3, the Boomer Viruses themselves are Null element and will not take double damage from Fire attacks.
Boomerang (ブーメラン,Būmeran) is the Battle Chip from Boomer viruses. Upon use, a boomerang will sweep across the edges of the field, starting from the bottom row, in a near-identical fashion to the virus. In Mega Man Battle Network 5, the chip is a blacked-out virus chip and causes invincibility frames to activate unlike its other incarnations. In Mega Man Battle Network 6, the series is genericized, and the boomerang now leaves grass panels behind as it travels along the field.
In Mega Man Battle Network 4, Rockman.EXE 4.5 Real Operation, Rockman.EXE Phantom of Network and Rockman.EXE Legend of Network, these chips can form the Pit Ring (ヘルブーメラン,Hell Boomerang)Program Advance series. Upon use, three boomerangs will sweep across the field, hitting all panels on the enemy side.
