Air-Ptera (エアプテラ) is a PTL-type Medabot that first appeared in Medarot 2.

Description

Air-Ptera is a flying Medabot based on a Pteranodon that specializes in grappling attacks. With the head part he can reveal any hiding opponents, and he can use Sword-like attacks from the arms. In most of the Medabots media he is seen as a member of the Select Corps, alongside with Attack-Tyranno and Landbrachio.

In the games

Medarot 2

Air-Ptera is used by all members of the Select Corps, with the one from the Select Trio being known as the "Select Yellow". Air-Ptera does not play a bigger role in these games, though. Later, in Medarot 3, Air-Ptera is replaced by Sky-Ptera as its upgraded version.

Medabots (GBA)

Air-Ptera returned in the remake with the same role as the original, but with different stats. The Conceal Clear from his head was replaced by Scout.

Medarot S: Unlimited Nova

His leg parts gained the effect Straight.

In the anime

Air-Ptera Medabots are shown in the Medabots anime series with different wings, appearing similar in shape to military jet aircrafts. Instead of close-combat, Air-Pteras uses the arms to grip spherical explosives, which are then released (seemingly often in mass numbers) from a higher altitude onto the area of a target. This tactic is listed in the dub as PTL-162012's specialty, the Bomb Attack.

In "The Legendary Medafighter", an Air-Ptera is owned by a Rosewood Private School student and is among the Medabots that attack Eddie and Gloomeg.

An army of Air-Pteras, Landbrachios and Attack-Tyranos appeared in "The Mother of All Robattles" when the Select Corps were trying to stop Giganko, who was heading towards the city.
