History

The Consortium resorted to Glx soldiers, among other forces, to attack the city of Toronto on Earth, their aim being the capture of superhuman Her, who had taken refuge there. Her was defended by Canadian superheroes Alpha Flight. After not succeeding in the first wave, the Consortium mothership released a smaller ship with Glx ground troops to contribute in taking the streets. At least one of the platoons was confronted by superfast Alpha Northstar, who battered several Glx with his fists at superspeed. One of the Glx recovered initiative and hit Northstar with his Forearm Guard-protected arms, breaking Northstar's arm and leaving his hand bloody, before being knocked down himself. Northstar then took the Glx's Forearm Guard to protect his arm during the rest of the fight, without thinking of retreating, and tried to find its offensive capabilities. Unsatisfied with the Glx technology, Northstar discarded it mere moments later, way before the battle was over.[2]
The Consortium was utterly defeated in that fight.[4] It is unclear what happened with the Glx soldiers and their gear.Properties
The Forearm Guard is a device used by aliens of the semi-humanoid Glx species to cover their lower arms (also including a black glove for the hand) when in situations of open conflict. It includes mechanism of advanced technology that provide the Glx with protection in their limbs, and they are believed to increase their strength and efficiency for arm-based attacks. The Forearm Guard also straightens the arm so that, when injured or broken, the person would suffer less its effects, like a plaster; and it is useful to cover the limb when using certain hand-held weapons with long butts that the Glx soldiers favor. The Forearm Guard is wearable technology that a Glx can put on and take off; and it can be removed by third parties should the wearer does not resist.
Surprisingly, the Forearm Guard can be adapted to a variety of sizes. Glx are a tall species, 8 foot average,[1] with their limbs proportional to their stature. Earth-born human mutant Northstar, who is 5'11", took one of these Forearm Guards to wear himself, and adjusted it to his considerably slimmer and shorter arm.[2]
