Anna and Irene lived in New Orleans with their stepmother "Mama" Darkhölme who exploited the girls' talents, using Irene's gifts as a blind seer and Anna's as a medium who could talk to the dead for profit.

While drinking in a bar, Anna was approached by Detective Remy LeBeau who flirted with her, even though his partner Bishop warned that she was trouble. Anna stole tarot cards from LeBeau and left home to find her sister Irene waiting for her. Their Mama was mad at Anna for leaving while a customer was waiting, Anna insisted that there was no customer, until she was introduced to Emma Frost, who wanted to meet the girl who could talk to the dead. Mama and Irene left as Anna and Emma prepared for the séance, but when Anna touched Emma's hands, the spirits rose from the ground at Emma's command. When LeBeau discovered his tarot cards missing, he went to Anna's home but found it destroyed. Irene and Mama told him that it was the Hellfire Club who took Anna, planning to use her to raise an army of the dead. LeBeau and Mama went after the Hellfire Club, and were attacked by zombies. They fought the members of the Hellfire Club, and when LeBeau found his tarot cards he was able to use the death card against Emma Frost, putting the spirits to rest. He revived Anna with a kiss, and they left with Mama as the sun rose.^[1]
