History
The Barrens was a devastated part of the universe cut from the rest of the cosmos by a barrier set up by the Watchers.
Ages ago, the Prosilicans began using the technology provided by the Watchers to attack neighboring civilizations, leading to a final conflict that wiped out nine-tenths of the universe after the watcher Emnu fired the Ultimate Nullifier.[2] Due to the toxic fallout released by the weapon, the Watchers set up the barrier to prevent it from devastating what remained of the universe. The area affected by the fallout was eventually called the Barrens.[3]
After Uatu the Watcher was imbued with the power of the Apex of All Reality, becoming "the One and Only Watcher", he used his newfound powers to restructure the Barrens into the revitalized Borderlands to serve as the Canvas of Infinite Possibility. Galactus, following his full restoration, was filled with hunger for knowledge and ventured into the Borderlands, accompanied by the Silver Surfer.[1]

The space pirate crew of Captain Tornish Skretch arrived to the Barrens where they found the sealed coffin of Count Dracula which had drifted to this region. Upon opening the coffin, Dracula killed Skretch by having him ejected from his ship and into the outside space.[4]Points of Interest
