Trophy is Under Construction

A Trophy (トロフィー), sometimes referred to as a Cup (カップ), is a beautiful memento commemorating a player's high performance in a Mario Kart Grand Prix or Battle. Trophies can be either bronze, silver, or gold, which of course depends on whether the player got 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.
Though they don't do anything in and of themselves, Trophies signify the accomplishment of a Cup, which will in turn unlock more content.
Description
Super Mario Kart
The 3 winners are shown atop a podium, and then a Cheep Cheep balloon shows up (it will be big or small depending on your final position in the cup). It stops atop the player and it spits out either a bronze, silver or gold trophy (again, depending on your final position and happens in every other Mario Kart game afterwards). If the player gets first place in the cup, they will get champagne and open it; the cork ends up hitting the Cheep Cheep balloon, who ends up popping and flying off-screen. Then, each of the characters do a special animation if you get first place, involving the champagne:
Mario just does his normal celebration, with champagne coming out of the bottle;
Luigi will spin 2 bottles at the same time;
Princess Peach will throw the bottle into the air with both hands;
Yoshi will do the same, but he instead throws the bottle from one hand to the other;
Donkey Kong Jr. will shake 2 bottles upside down as if they're drumsticks;
Bowser will just hold the bottle while laughing (at least it looks like he's laughing);
Koopa will clang 2 bottles into each other;
A vine will come out of Toad's bottle and if you get 4th place or less, the 3 winning characters won't be seen getting their trophies on the podium and will just be seen standing as your character cries that they failed to get a trophy.
Mario Kart 64
The three winners of the cup go to the front of Peach's Castle in Royal Raceway (where they come from depends on their final position in the cup). After they get in front of the bridge, the podium suddenly pops up under them, first for third place, then for second place, and finally first place. Then, a Cheep Cheep balloon appears, and just like in Super Mario Kart, spits out either a bronze, silver or gold trophy (again, depending on your final position). Then, Mario (or a narrator, if you're playing the Japanese version) congratulates the player, and the player's character switches to their victory emote as they say their victory phrase. If the player gets 4th or less, your character will the the 1st place character going to be with the other 2 winners to get their trophies while your character will drive from the victory celebration and get sent into the air by a Mini Bomb Kart.
Mario Kart: Super Circuit
The three winners of the cup go to a part of the Peach Circuit where a big crowd has showed up to cheer for them. They stop to a halt, and suddenly the podium falls right in front of them, which they jump on. If the player gets first place, their character does their victory pose. Either way, a Cheep Cheep jumps over the winners and the crowd and spits out your trophy (which again, changes color but also its appearance this time, depending on your position). The narrator congratulates the player as the player's character does the same thing as in Mario Kart 64 and it shows the results and your rank. If you get 4th or less, the podium won't show the trophies and only show your character getting squished by the podium.
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
The celebration this time takes place on Peach Beach, where many Isle Delfino citizens like Piantas and Nokis have come to cheer for the winners. The second and third placed teams drive on their karts, but the first placed team will be on two podiums on the Parade Kart (which is driven by Toadsworth), driving around the fountain before they pass through three Item Boxes with their trophies. If you get 4th or less, the screen will say "Now try for a trophy".
Mario Kart DS
The three winners do a victory lap around the Figure-8 Circuit, where in the end, after the runner-up racers zig-zag around each other, they let the first placed racer pass and celebrate, and then the player is taken to a screen showing off their trophy and getting congratulated.
Mario Kart Wii

Just like in DS, the winners do a victory lap, this time taking place on Mario Circuit, where after passing through a tunnel and drifting in a turn surrounded by fans, all of them start cheering. After passing through the finish line, and Lakitu waving to the player, we see the crowd (and some of the other racers) cheering for the winners, which are in front of Peach's Castle in a podium celebrating. The camera then pans to the sky and shows off your trophy. In team races or battle matches, the victory lap is skipped. If you get under 3rd, your character will sit in their vehicle far from the celebration and the screen will wish you better luck next time, implying the screen is wishing you better luck for a trophy the next time the player plays the cup.
Mario Kart 7
The winners do another victory lap, in Toad Circuit, where at first it shows the runner-up racers driving in a tunnel, but then after they get out of it, the first placed racer shows up with their glider and gets in the middle. After the third and second placed racers do their victory animations, they do a little drift and the first placed racer does the same thing along with them, After they cross the finish line, the results screen shows off their trophy like in DS. This game actually reuses the start of the Trophy Ceremony theme from the Wii game.
Mario Kart 8/Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
The game just shows off the highlights of one of your races in the cup, and it ends by showing off your trophy and the results. One of the few games in the series where there isn't a special scene for winning the cup. Lakitu Will be seen clapping and the screen will say "Nice Try" if you get under 3rd in place of the trophy.

Trivia!
- Starting with Mario Kart 7, you're actually able to rotate and move the Trophies during the award presentation.
- In the Japanese version of Super Mario Kart, Peach and Bowser chug the champagne in their animations (with the former getting drunk from it).
