The Mach 8 (マッハ八) is a kart available in Mario Kart 8, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Kart Tour.

Description

It resembles both a jet with a turbine-like engine in the front and the Formula One cars of the 1950s, having a color combination an intense blue color while sporting a yellow racing stripe and tailfin.

In Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Mach8BodyMK8

It offers good speed and weight, and bad acceleration and traction. Its stats are identical with the Sports Coupe, Circuit Special, Gold Standard, B Dasher, and P-Wing.

A CPU-controlled Luigi or Yoshi may sometimes use this vehicle body, often paired with the Slim tires. In addition, both characters even have official artworks using the Mach 8 with Slim tires.

In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a CPU-controlled Link (both versions) would use this Vehicle body, but this time, paired with Triforce Tires.

In Mario Kart Tour

MKT Luigi

In reference to the official artworks for Luigi and Yoshi in the Mach 8, the kart now becomes equipped with the Slim tires from its debut game. It is classified as a Super kart, which increases the duration of Slipstream boosts and the points earned for performing them.

Mario Kart Tour also brings a new variant of the Mach 8, called the Karp Kart, which appeared in the Trick Tour in 2020, classified as a High-End kart.

Trivia!

  • This is one of the few vehicles that doesn't change color no matter who is driving it. Others being the P-Wing and The Sports Coupe.
  • The Mach 8's design is based on a plane.
    • Also, the number 8 was used due to the game being called "Mario Kart 8."
  • This is one of the two vehicles to have a 8 on the kart before or after being selected.
  • The Mach 8's name is similar to the Mach Bike from Mario Kart Wii despite this, the two vehicles are completely unrelated.
  • The Mach 8 could in fact be a relative to the Comet, as they both have turbine fans in the front.
    • The Comet could also be in fact a Bike Counterpart for the Mach 8.
