The Cloud 9 is a kart in the Mario Kart series that debuted in Mario Kart 7 as an unlockable kart body. It is primarily the signature kart part for Lakitu, who debuts in this Mario Kart series in this game. It also appears in Mario Kart Tour as a Super kart.
Description
The Cloud 9, as its name implies, looks like a cloud. It is very poofy, being a light gray (almost white [but not close enough to be called white]), and it has little traces of blue along the creases. On the front of Cloud 9 is a smiley face, so it makes this kart resemble Lakitu's cloud that he flies in. At the back is two yellow boosters. Its name references the phrase "I'm on cloud 9."
In Mario Kart 7 only, it had a black seat and the character's emblem was located at the back. These features have been removed in the Mario Kart Tour version.
How to unlock
- Collect as many Coins as you can and hope you get lucky.
- Purchase from the Daily Selects for 2,000 Coins.
- Obtain it from the Pipe.

Mario Kart 7
This is the Cloud 9's first appearance in a Mario Kart game. It is a kart body that boosts Acceleration and Handling, while it lowers Speed and Weight. It ties with the Birthday Girl and the Tiny Tug for the lowest Speed boost, while it ties with the Birthday Girl and the Koopa Clown for the highest Handling boost. In terms of its hidden stats, the Cloud 9 has decent water and air speed, and its handling remains high anywhere. It also increases Drift and Mini-Turbo.

Mario Kart Tour
The Cloud 9 makes a reapparance in the series in the mobile spin-off game, Mario Kart Tour, as of the Tokyo Tour. It is classified as a Super Kart, with Jump Boost Plus as its Special Skill, which increases the length of and the points earnt from Jump Boosts. This kart is equipped with the Sponge tires from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
There is another version of this kart, dubbed the Sunset Cloud, which uses the same tires, but they are purple instead. This variant is classified as a High-End Kart and has Dash Panel Plus instead.

- The vehicle's name is a pun on the phrase "Cloud 9" as in very happy and hyperactive.
- This and the Koopa Clown is the only karts in Mario Kart 7 that have a face.
