- —Metal Sonic, Sonic Generations
Metal Sonic is an evil robotic version of Sonic the Hedgehog from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, created by Dr. Eggman. As with Knuckles the Echidna and Shadow the Hedgehog, he is one of Sonic's rivals, and despite being a robotic copy of the original, he believes that he is the one that deserves to be the real Sonic. Metal Sonic's first Mario-related appearance is in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, in the form of a cameo.
While Metal Sonic was voiced in Sonic Heroes by Ryan Drummond, Sonic's voice actor at the time of the game's release, in the Mario & Sonic series, he uses computer-generated sound effects instead.

Physical appearance
Attention Mario Wiki users!: This section is short or lacks sufficient information. We would appreciate it if you help the Mario Wiki by expanding it.
Personality
Despite being built to match Sonic the Hedgehog in all aspects, Metal Sonic is the exact opposite of his organic counterpart in terms of personality. Rather than fun-loving, adventurous, and carefree, Metal Sonic is a cold, dark, aggressive, mysterious and outwardly emotionless machine with a large superiority complex. Early on though, he had a habit of mimicking Sonic's gestures, perhaps in a mocking manner. Notably, Metal Sonic is predominantly mute, typically only making beeping and buzzing noises.
Most of the time, Metal Sonic is Dr. Eggman's docile and completely obedient enforcer. In addition to being programmed to serve Eggman, Metal Sonic carries only one goal in mind: destroy Sonic using abilities superior to his. However, Metal Sonic is also an intelligent and calculative machine thanks to an AI chip given to him by Eggman.

In Mario & Sonic series
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games
Metal Sonic's first playable appearance is in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. He is a Speed type character and is naturally good in all racing events. His special skill is the Air Boost which he can use in certain events to gain speed.
In Adventure Tours mode in the Nintendo DS version of the game, Metal Sonic appears as an opponent in Rocket Skiing. In this mode, Metal Sonic joins Dr. Eggman and Bowser's side in trying to stop Sonic and Mario from rescuing the Snow Spirits. He first tries to stalk Sonic and Mario in Sparkleton before challenging the protagonists to a Rocket Ski Jumping event. After he is defeated, Metal Sonic escapes, thus allowing the heroes to proceed. Later, after the defeat of Eggman and Bowser, Metal Sonic and Bowser Jr. will leave challenges for Sonic and Mario in various places. Once all the challenges have been completed, Metal Sonic and Bowser Jr. will admit defeat and pretend to be remorseful. They then decide to join Mario and Sonic to improve their skills. After Bowser and Eggman lose for a second time they tell their masters how they followed Mario and Sonic in secret. This allows Bowser and Eggman to join them to better their skills as well.
There is an added detail in the DS version of the game, in which Metal Sonic's eyes turn blue if the player wins an event, is in the lead, or is playing certain events. This appears to be a reference to Sonic R, in which a similar effect happens to Metal Sonic when he is in the lead and/or wins.
Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games
Metal Sonic returns as a Speed-type playable character in the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, and appears in the opening alongside the other athletes in addition to competing in Badminton - Doubles and Football. A Mii outfit based on Metal Sonic can be collected for Miis to wear, and Metal Sonic appears as a character that can be spoken to in London Party mode in order to play minigames and earn stickers.
In the Nintendo 3DS version, Metal Sonic belongs to the Tricksters class and can only take part in sports events selected for this group. In the game's story mode, Metal Sonic came with Dr. Eggman, Orbot and Cubot to London to participate in the upcoming Olympic Games. One day, Metal Sonic was training in the Main Stadium, but Eggman noticed that the robot was not making any progress despite having rebuilt him from the ground up. Suddenly, Bowser Jr. showed up to challenge Metal Sonic. Receiving Eggman's permission, Metal Sonic accepted the challenge. Facing Bowser Jr. in 110m Hurdles, Metal Sonic lost to his opponent, much to Eggman's frustration. Some time afterward, Metal Sonic was practicing taekwondo with Eggman in their hideout inside Big Ben, whom he lost to. As Eggman thought about ways on how to upgrade Metal Sonic, Orbot and Cubot showed Waluigi on one of the monitors. Metal Sonic and his allies subsequently went to meet Waluigi, who was convinced to face Metal Sonic in some events to test the robot. After Metal Sonic defeated Waluigi, Eggman noticed that Metal Sonic lacked some power, so the group went back to Big Ben to further improve Metal Sonic. Later, Metal Sonic was pitted against Wario after a match had been set up between them. After Metal Sonic defeated Wario, he followed Eggman's orders and brought the Fog urn they won from Wario by defeating him to their base. Inside their base, Eggman managed to slightly unseal the urn, causing the Phantasmal Fog to come out and form a fog imposter of Sonic, which prompted a reaction from Metal Sonic. Eggman, however, calmed Metal Sonic down and defeated the Fog imposter himself. Metal Sonic then listened to the explanation Eggman gave of how the imposter was formed. Afterwards, Metal Sonic watched with discontent as a disgruntled Eggman began chasing Orbot and Cubot around for making smart-mouthed remarks. After Dr. Eggman and Bowser had deployed Fog Machines all over London, Metal Sonic went to the London Tennis Club, where he ran into Waluigi and destroyed the binoculars which he was using to spy on Luigi. This prompted Waluigi to challenge Metal Sonic to some events. After being defeated, Metal Sonic retreated. He later joined forces with a three-dimensional hologram of Eggman to protect the Fog Machine in Eton Dorney. However, Wario and Waluigi soon showed up and defeated Metal Sonic and the Eggman hologram, before destroying the Fog Machine, thus causing the fog in the area to clear up. Metal Sonic and the Eggman hologram were then watched over by Wario and Waluigi until they realized they had been watching a fake Eggman. After everything had been resolved, Metal Sonic showed up at the opening ceremony for the Olympic Games. In the Nintendo 3DS version of the game, a badge of Metal Sonic can also be obtained from the badge machine.
