Biography
Donkey Kong Diddy Kong and the Mangoruby met when the former was searching for his banana hoard, which he lost to the Tikis. A Tiki who resembled a panflute then popped up, playing music, and the beast woke up from his slumber, causing a duel. Donkey Kong gave it his all, defeating the Mangoruby.
In Donkey Kong Country Returns
As a boss, the Mangoruby attacks by chasing Donkey Kong down. There are five switches in his room, and Donkey Kong must press these switches to activate the lights. When all five are activated, the boss loses his source of power and Donkey Kong can stomp on the beast's tail, severing part of it. Upon losing his whole tail, the Mangoruby is defeated and collapses, and Donkey Kong can beat up the panflute Tiki to conclude his adventure in the forest. The boss will retreat every time he is hit and only appears when Donkey Kong strikes the first switch; the Mangoruby is defeated in three hits.
Trivia
- The Mangoruby is the only boss from Donkey Kong Country Returns to not have a trophy cameo in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
