The Foopfly is an enemy from Mario & Luigi: Brothership. They are common on Bulbfish Island.
Description
Foopflies are pink insectoid enemies. Their heads have eyes that resemble binoculars and a long yellow snout where the mouth should go, and on the bottom is a pair of black legs.
Behaviour
Due to their ability to fly, Foopflies cannot be hit with regular Hammer or ground-hugging attacks.
A Foopfly has three attacks. During the first attack, it will fire three pellets upward, with its third pellet landing on the target. The target needs to use his hammer to send the pellet back at the Foopfly, and all three pellets land in the same rhythm that the Foopfly launched them in, including the tempo. The second attack is similar to the Eyepi'illo's spinning laser attack. The target has to smash the spinning Foopfly with his hammer to make it launch a seed into another enemy. The seed can also hit the Bros. if the Foopfly aimed at them if smashed. The third attack has the Foopfly slowly approach its target and spit seeds out of its snout not unlike the Sneeds from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. The target has to jump over the Foopfly's seeds and then onto its head when it gets close enough.
The regular Foopfly is of Level 20, with 175 hit points, an attack power of 79, a defense of 48, and a speed of 75. When slain, it gives 166 experience and drops 44 coins, and its loot drops may include a Nut (4% chance for the regular version, 1% chance for the Super version) or a Bulbfish Lantern.
Variants
A stronger version of the Foopfly, loyal to the Zokket Army, can be found in Fortress Zokket. This variant, called Foopfly R, is Level 38. There is also a Glohm-infused variant that can be found later on Bulbfish Island, as well as in the Soli-Tree of Level 43. The Glohm-infused Foopflies have a similar power to the Dungeons & Dragons Balor, where their bodies explode into fiery shockwaves when the creature dies.
