Crater Crawl is a 4-player and a Duel minigame which appears in Mario Party DS.
Layout
The minigame takes place inside of an active volcano. At the ending, the volcano is seen erupting, with its lava flowing into a gap as lots of smoke emits from the top of the volcano. The top screen shows the characters and how far they are from reaching the end.
Gameplay
The object is for each character to rock-climb out of an erupting volcano. They have to avoid large, solid pillars of lava that launch up from the lava below. A part of the lava bubbles right before a pillar of lava launches from it as a warning to characters to avoid it, to indicate when one launches It is possible for the characters to each climb above their opponents to more easily travel around them. The longer at least two players are remaining, the faster the lava bubbles, to lessen the likelihood of a shared victory.
Whoever is either the last character remaining or manages to climb out of the volcano is ranked the winner. The minigame ends in a tie if either every character gets eliminated by the lava or if all of them manage to escape from the volcano.
Ending
Any winner is seen outside the volcano, doing their victory animation.

- D-Pad (left or right): Move around the walls of the volcano
: Press rapidly to move past others
Flavor text
- Rules: Avoid getting hit by lava eruptions until the timer runs out to win, or just be the last one standing.
- Tips: A lava gush will bubble before it blows. That's your signal to get out of its way.
Trivia
- This is one of the minigames in which the characters appear to be normal-sized rather than small in proportion to regular objects.
