The Ampberry is an item from Mario & Luigi: Brothership. They are fruits that grow on Wayaway Island.
Description
Ampberries are heart-shaped fruits with a circuit pattern on their "peel."
Uses
Ampberries are known for their ability to cure Glohm infection, as Doctor Vulko displays in his treatment of Prince Chilliam during the Brrning Sea chapter after Ten turns the latter into a Glohm zombie. During combat if one brother contracts Glohm, Mario and Luigi can use Ampberries to cure the Glohm infection, which is represented by the eponymous status effect, and can immediately use them whenever the player applies the appropriate Battle Plug.
Location
Ampberries are found commonly in Wayaway Island, where Bowser stockpiles a lot of them in his castle.
Behind the Scenes
Etymology
Ampberries take their name from the word "ampere" (a unite that is used to measure the strength of an electric current) and "berry" (due to their nature as fruit).
Nomenclature
In the Japanese and Korean dubs, Ampberries are called "semiconductors" (Handōtai (written ハンドータイ) and Bandoche (written 반도체), respectively. In Chinese, they are called Bàndǎo Guǒ (written 半导果), a portmanteau of bàndǎotǐ ("semiconductor"; written 半導體) and guǒ ("fruit"; written 果). In Spanish, they are called Melóhmio, a blend of melón ("melon") and óhmio (which refers to the unit "ohm" which measures electric resistance).
