Tuna Bun (まぐろ饅 maguro-man) is a food item seen in Macross Frontier and Macross Frontier Movie: The False Songstress, a specialty of the Chinese restaurant chain Nyan-Nyan.
Appearance
The Tuna Bun is a steamed yeast bun with a tuna filling. Due to the color and marking on the top, they are often associated with female breasts and used in such jokes.
History
Ranka Lee was seen carrying two of these in a special takeout case.
In the TV series, it was meant to be given to her brother Ozma Lee, but Ranka ended up offering them to Alto Saotome and Sheryl Nome when they got stranded in an emergency shelter during a Vajra attack.[1]
In the movie, it was given directly to Alto, but the positioning and appearance of the food item left the young man flustered.

Notes And Trivia
- The Tuna Bun's appearance is presumably to refute the notion that all foodstuffs highlighted in the series are pilot jinx items. This was also the case for the "Pine Cake" that appeared in the same series.
- In Macross 30: The Voice that Connects the Galaxy, the Tuna Bun is a consumable item that recovers SP for the player pilot and wing mates. The increase depends on the serving size.
