Macross 5

The Macross 5 (NMCV-005) a ship from New Macross Class (NMC) constructed by General Galaxy that act as flagship of the 35th Long Distance Emigration Fleet. This ship appears in television series Macross 7.

Technology & Combat Characteristics

Macross 5 is the fifth ship of the New Macross-class, that comprised of City 5 and Battle 5. Its basic design are near identical to the said class such as the Macross 7, but what differs it from the rest is the distinctive Zentradi design. This make the ship looks much smoother and more organic in style compared to UN Spacy ships of the line.^[1]

Parts

The ship Macross 5 is the fifth model of the New Macross class of deep space colonization ships. It consists of two parts:

• City 5:
  • An enormous, egg-shaped spacecraft with a pressurized dome containing an two kilometers sized city. It has a clam-like "lid" whose inner surface projects an image of an Earth-like sky. This "lid" can closed to provide protection against enemy attacks, and its known as "shell down" mode. This ship also served as main place for the colonist to life, and mimic the Earth-like environmental conditions, including the weathers. This particular City-class had simpler city cluster than City 7, and its residents are mainly miclonized Zentradis.^[1]
• Battle 5:
  • A gigantic transformable space carrier that act as the flagship of the fleet. It also can be detached from City 5, and transformed into a humanoid battle-fortress if the situation demands. Its main weapon were a gigantic macross cannon, mounted on the ventral hull on carrrer mode, and can be transformed into a "gun" on attack mode that had the firepower to destroy enemy ship in single shot. Ship is said to carry 700 aircraft in total, consist of variable fighters, attack craft, bombers, reconnaissance craft, transports, liaison craft. Due to its Zentradi design, its size is slighly larger than the rest of NMC-class ship.^[2]

  • A giant gun ship dubbed the "Gunship" that act as Battle 5 main weapon. This weapon are mounted on Battle 5 ventral hull, and can be transformed into a gun when Battle 5 on "attack mode". Due to its enormous size, this weapon can only be shot once per 60 minute interval, with the max usage 2-3 shot before the barrel melt or overheat.

  • A defensive energy shield like the Pint Point Barrier used against incoming enemy projectiles at very close range.

History

Launched sometime in the 2030s, the Macross 5 was the fifth New Macross Class vessel built by the UNG and the 35th Long-Distance Emigration Fleet, accompanied by two Macross 5 type ship, several Three Star Factory Ships, Neo Nupetiet-Vergnitzs bis Class, and many Uraga-class and Northampton Class (Zentradi Type).^[3]

Later In early September 2045 the Macross 5 fleet landed upon the habitable planet Lux and began initial preparations for colonization. They contacted the nearby Macross 7 fleet to extend an invitation to visit the new colony world and hoped that the band Fire Bomber would make an appearance due to their popularity among the fleet.^[3] Unfortunately sometime in September 2045, Macross 5 fleet was destroyed and the colony annihillated by the Protodeviln, before the arrival of Macross 7 fleet.^[4] Most of the Macross 5 colonists had been taken captive by the Protodeviln and eventually mind controlled to fill the ranks of the Varauta Army.^[5]
