Delilah was a famous singer and friend of Lucifer Morningstar.[1] Her murder outside of LUX nightclub in 2016 sparked Lucifer's quest for vengeance against her killer; a quest that would lead him to meet Detective Chloe Decker for the first time.
History
Before the events of the show, Delilah worked as a club singer at Lux, a nightclub owned by Lucifer Morningstar. [1] Lucifer would occasionally accompany her while she sang, and later, as a favor, introduced her to several music producers, including Jimmy Barns. Due in part to this favor, Delilah eventually became a famous recording artist.
She almost married her producer Jimmy Barnes but left him at the altar. He later trapped her in the bathroom at the Grammys, saying he wanted to get back together. Later, her life started falling apart and she began using drugs.[1]
In "Pilot", Delilah visits Lucifer at Lux. The two catch up, and Delilah eventually asks Lucifer if she sold her soul to the Devil. Lucifer laughs saying the Devil had no interest in her soul, then tells her to repay the favor by pulling herself together. He kisses her forehead and walks her out. As they hug goodbye, a car drives by and shoots multiple times, killing her.[1]
After the incident, Lucifer is determined to find out who her murderer was, thus intruding into the LAPD investigation led by Detective Chloe Decker. They track down the murderer, who turns out to be her former record producer, Jimmy Barnes.
In "Once Upon a Time", which takes place in an alternate universe where Chloe never became a police officer, Delilah is still murdered outside of LUX.[2] However, in this universe, the investigating officer, Daniel Espinoza, never bothered to track down the real killer. This causes Lucifer to have a very negative opinion of the LAPD.[2]
