- The Valar create the Sun and the Moon guided by Arien and Tilion, and erect towers and put sentinels in the Calacirya; Valinor is hidden with the Enchanted Isles around Tol Eressëa.[1][2]
- The Moon rises above Middle-earth before the coming of the Sun; Tilion crosses the heavens seven times.[1][2]
- At the first moonrise, Fingolfin's host set foot upon Middle-earth after traversing the Helcaraxë with the grievous loss.[3][2]
- Elenwë, the wife of Turgon and the mother of Idril, perishes in the deep water.[3][2]
- Battle of the Lammoth takes place; although the Noldor are victorious, Argon, the third son of Fingolfin, is slain.[4]
