The Southlanders were a large group of the Men of Darkness, who were people that sided with Morgoth in the War of Wrath. They were created for Amazon's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and are thus non-canonical.
History
After Morgoth's defeat in the War of Wrath, the Southlanders were allowed to retain their lands, on the condition that they were to be watched by Elves. Each town presumably had a group of Elves watching them, to make sure they did not side with the Enemy again. The Elves would personally enter the town to hear the happenings every two weeks. However, the residents of these towns grew angry at the mistrust directed towards them, and grew hostile to the Elves.
