The Othram,[1] or simply the City Wall, was Minas Tirith's outer defense, in which was located the city's Great Gate.[2]
It was described as "being made of the same impenetrable black rock as the Tower of Orthanc.[2]
Etymology
Othram is a Sindarin name meaning "City Wall", being derived from the elements ost ("fort, fortress, stronghold, citadel; fortified town; enclosure")[3] and ram ("wall").[1][4]
In adaptations
Lord of the Rings film trilogy
In Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, the Othram is depicted as being of a shining white color. It contained the city's Great Gate.
