Fays were small, heavenly creatures of Arda introduced before and older than the Atani (Men, Children of Ilúvatar) who are only mentioned in a few tales in The Book of Lost Tales Part One. They had no known origin.
Fays resembled fairies or pixies. The Nermir were the Fays of the meads, and the Nandini were of the valleys.
