England was the home country of J.R.R. Tolkien and his family after 1895. Parts of the land such as Sarehole were the inspiration for the Shire and other parts of Middle-earth.
Mythology
England exists in the periphery of Tolkien's earliest mythological tales, written in the 1910's: those of the curious mariner Ælfwine who sailed from there to Tol Eressëa, given in The Book of Lost Tales Part One and Part Two.
