Elemmakil was an Elf of Gondolin.
Biography
Elemmakil was the captain of the Dark Guard[1] protecting the Outer Gate of Gondolin. He was the first to encounter both Tuor and Voronwë when they had found their way through the cavern leading to the first gate. After questioning them, he allowed their entrance and led them through the Seven Great Gates till they reached Ecthelion, the Warden of the Great Gate.
Elemmakil apparently knew Voronwë when he had lived in Gondolin.[2]
The fate of Elemmakil is untold, leaving it unknown whether he survived the Fall of Gondolin in FA 510.[3]
Etymology
According to Paul Strack, Elemmakil is a Quenya name meaning "Star Sword".[4]
