Zinga is a female hornbill. She is the niece of Zazu.
Zazu tasked Simba and Nala with babysitting Zinga. Instead of listening to her babysitters, Zinga led them on a chase across the Pride Lands. Eventually, the cubs gave up the game, and Zinga accidentally started an elephant stampede. Afterward, she admitted that it had been an accident, and Simba reminded her that they watched over her to keep her out of trouble. She then returned to be with her mother.

Babysat by Simba and Nala

Simba and Nala agreed to babysit Zinga for her uncle, Zazu, so long as he did not tell Mufasa that they had caused an elephant stampede. The next morning, Zazu met Simba and Nala at Pride Rock and attempted to introduce them to Zinga, only for Zinga to fly away without a word. Before leaving, Zazu instructed the cubs to stay within the Pride Lands and to meet him and Zinga's mother at Pride Rock at midday.
As Simba and Nala searched for Zinga, they witnessed Rafiki shooing her out of his tree. Before Zinga could fly away again, Simba called her down, and she landed on Nala's head. She remarked that the cubs must be her babysitters and explained that she had already told Zazu that she did not need babysitters. She then took flight again and declared that she was going "out to play." At first, Simba accepted Zinga's word, but when Nala pointed out that they themselves had used that excuse in the past, they took off after her again.
Though Simba and Nala begged Zinga to wait, she escaped into a herd of zebras and disturbed some mother birds who were giving their young flying lessons. Exhausted, the cubs gave up and paused to catch their breath. Just then, Rafiki revealed himself in a tree above them and commented that Zinga enjoyed the game that they were playing and that, were the cubs to stop chasing her, the game would change. Heeding Rafiki's advice, the cubs stopped chasing her and failed to notice her approaching the elephants' watering hole.
Shortly afterward, Zinga led a herd of stampeding elephants toward Simba and Nala. Once the elephants had cleared, Zinga claimed that she had only been playing and that she had not meant to start a stampede. Simba reminded Zinga that they wanted her to stay with them so that she would not get into trouble. Just then, Zazu and Zinga's mother returned, and Zinga's mother praised Simba and Nala for their babysitting abilities.[1]
