Biography

Lowe was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, to lawyer Charles Davis Lowe and schoolteacher Barbara Lynn.[1] He and his younger brother, Chad, were both very young when their parents divorced.

In 1983, Lowe received his first Golden Globe Award nomination for the television film Thursday's Child, but his real breakthrough as an actor came with the release of The Outsiders, in which he played the role of Sodapop Curtis, brother of the main character. He later received a second Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for playing the mentally disabled Rory in Square Dance.

More recently, Lowe has starred in films such as Killing Kennedy, in which he plays the main role of President John F. Kennedy, and Pocket Listing. He also voices Simba, the father of main character Kion, in Disney's The Lion Guard.[2]
