Kambuni is a female ostrich.
Kambuni and her friends were playing together when they were attacked by Janja and his cronies, Cheezi and Chungu. Though she, Gumba, Kwato, and Shauku escaped, the hyenas continued to chase Mtoto. The friends appealed to Beshte for help, and he rushed off to save Mtoto from danger. Afterward, Kion offered to reward Kambuni and her friends with honorary Lion Guard markings made of mud.
Biography
Early life
Kambuni lived in the Pride Lands. At some point in her life, she befriended Gumba, Kwato, Mtoto, and Shauku.[1]
Janja's attack
Kambuni faked a hyena attack with her friends, as they were in the middle of a game about the Lion Guard. Their game, however, frightened a group of Pride Landers, and the real Lion Guard showed up, demanding to know what was going on. Meekly, Kambuni and her friends padded forward and explained their game to the Lion Guard. Mtoto then invited the Lion Guard to play with them. Despite the young animals' excitement, Kion explained that they had business elsewhere.

Later, after Mtoto trained with the Lion Guard, Kambuni and her friends expressed amazement at Mtoto's experience. However, she and her friends despaired that he would not want to play with them anymore. To their delight, he started up another game with them, during which they pretended that the hyraxes were hyenas. While they were playing, Janja and his cronies, Cheezi and Chungu, began to follow them.
Eventually, the young animals chased the hyraxes to safety and wondered what to do next. Just then, Janja and his cronies appeared, and the young animals ran away in fear. Kambuni managed to escape, but Mtoto was pursued by the three hyenas. With her other remaining friends, Kambuni alerted Beshte to the danger, and he left to save Mtoto.
After Mtoto's safe return, Kambuni listened eagerly to his tale of escape. Shortly afterward, Kion volunteered to gift each child with a muddy mark of the Lion Guard, and the young animals immediately crowded around him, eager to receive their mark.[1]
Physical appearance
Kambuni is a small ostrich with black feathers and a white neck, ruff, tail tip, and wing tips. Her legs are long and gray, and she has a patch of black feathers on her head, rosy cheeks, and long eyelashes. Her eyes are green.[1]
Personality and traits
Kambuni sometimes causes trouble around the Pride Lands, as she thinks little about the repercussions of her games. She does, however, take instruction well and looks up to the Lion Guard, respecting their authority and experience.[1]
