Biography
Early life
Brutus lived in the Pride Lands. He was a rogue.[1]
Confrontation with Simba
One day, while tromping through the Pride Lands, Brutus and his herd unintentionally endangered the life of a young Princess Shani. Simba saved his daughter's life and reacted negatively to Brutus, humiliating and alienating him.[1]
Kovu's gang
Brutus became the second-in-command of a gang led by Scar's son, Kovu, whom Brutus resented. Kovu attempted to lead the gang outside of the Pride Lands to avoid Simba's wrath, but Brutus stubbornly refused.[1]
Plot against Simba
Brutus schemed to take over the Pride Lands and use Kovu as a puppet king. With the help of his hyena allies, as well as one of Shani's suitors, he kidnapped the princess and presented Kovu with an ultimatum: challenge Simba, or they would kill Shani.[1]
Personality and traits
Brutus is ambitious and not above threatening his friends to achieve his own ends. He holds a grudge against Simba for having humiliated and alienated him and has a "chip on his shoulder." He also harbors guilt from his past.[1]
