Honey badgers

What are you guys running for? Bees taste even better when they're mad!
Bunga[src]

Bees are a species of grub native to Hakuna Matata, the Pride Lands, and the Tree of Life. They are preyed upon by honey badgers.

History

Timon and Pumbaa's plot

When Simba and Nala spent a romantic evening in the jungle, Timon and Pumbaa attempted to disrupt their time together. For one such attempt, the duo threw a beehive at them. However, the bees escaped their hive, chased Timon and Pumbaa, and stung Timon.[1]

Attack on the Lion Guard

The bees are building hives on the path along the river. The elands use that same path. If the elands step on the beehives, they'll get stung. The herd would break up, and there could be chaos.
Kiara[src]

As part of his morning report, Ono informed Kiara that a colony of bees was building hives on the path along the river. Kiara quickly deduced that a herd of elands was heading toward the beehives and ordered the Lion Guard to divert the herd away from the bees. Out of rebellion and stubbornness, Kion opted to move the bees instead. This caused the colony to angrily chase the Lion Guard until they ran into the eland herd. The bees then swarmed the elands and the Lion Guard, and stung them repeatedly.[2]

Attack on Zazu

Maybe next time, try flying under the beehive, not through it!
―Bunga to Zazu[src]

When Zazu got his beak stuck in a beehive, Bunga pulled him free. The bees started to swarm toward Zazu, but Bunga intercepted them and began eating them out of the air.[3]

Ukumbusho Tradition

The bees are attracted to the pollen from the flowers!
―Ono deduces why the bees are chasing the elephants[src]

In order to prepare for the Ukumbusho Tradition, Makini painted the foreheads of the elephants in Ma Tembo's herd with paint made out of flowers. As the Ukumbusho Tradition began, a swarm of bees attacked the elephants, and they fled Mizimu Grove. While trying to calm the elephants, the Lion Guard deduced that the bees were attracted to the flowers in the elephants' paint, and so, they instructed Ma Tembo and Mtoto to spray dust at their fellow elephants' foreheads in order to wash away the paint. Once the paint had been sprayed away, the bees stopped their attack, and the Ukumbusho Tradition continued.[4]

Rockslide at the Tree of Life

A beehive. A beehive means bees. And honey too.
―Bunga, after he spots a beehive in the mountain pass[src]

Upon the Lion Guard's arrival at the mountain pass, Bunga spotted a beehive in the pass. He climbed up to the hive and attempted to extract honey. In doing so, he caused a rockslide that blocked the pass.[5]

Physical characteristics

A bee is a small, six-legged grub with a round body, antennae, and black and yellow stripes on its abdomen. Its eyes are large and black, while its wings are thin, translucent, and gray.[2]

Sociocultural characteristics

Bees tend to live in groups. They form hives, either on the ground or in trees, where they live and make honey.[5] Bees are easily antagonized and can deliver nasty stings that leave blisters. Though most animals are affected by bee stings, honey badgers are impervious to their attacks.[2]
