We gotta work really hard, just like a busy beaver.
Timon to Pumbaa[src]

Beavers are a species of animal native to Hakuna Matata.

History

Boss Beaver's hiring of Timon and Pumbaa

From here and forward, you will address me as boss. Boss Beaver. The reason you will address me as Boss Beaver is that I am your boss, and I am a beaver.
Boss Beaver introduces himself to Timon[src]

Pumbaa met Boss Beaver, who taught him about his philosophy, "Makuta Hamaka," which meant to "work really hard." After cutting down a tree like a beaver, Pumbaa got himself and Timon jobs as dam builders. Despite Timon's reluctance, Pumbaa dragged him to Boss Beaver's place, where Boss Beaver introduced himself and hired the duo to construct a dam. He then gave them white hard hats and buck teeth. After working hard, Pumbaa realized that the job was too much, and Timon suggested that they take an extended lunch hour. However, when Boss Beaver showed Timon money, he changed his mind and decided to work even more. After Timon had worked hard on the dam, Boss Beaver gave him a yellow hard hat and made him Pumbaa's boss.

Later, while Timon was working in a bathroom, Boss Beaver gave him forms to fill out. He then told Timon that he should fire Pumbaa. Come nighttime, Timon resolved to fire Pumbaa, who challenged him to choose a philosophy: "Makuta Hamaka" or "Hakuna Matata."

Later, Timon and Boss Beaver attended a press conference, where Boss Beaver credited himself for the dam's construction. Just as Boss Beaver fired Timon, water burst through the dam and splashed the gathered crowd. Boss Beaver accused Timon of having built the dam, but Timon retorted that, since he had taken all the credit, no one would ever vote for him again. Boss Beaver then asked Timon for a job, and Timon and Pumbaa made him their waiter.[1]

Boss Beaver's lumber mill

Remember, safety first!
―Boss Beaver[src]

After Timon and Pumbaa followed two bugs to a tree trunk and ate them, the tree got cut down and taken to Boss Beaver's lumber mill. With Timon and Pumbaa still inside the tree, it was cut in half. Boss Beaver showed up and told Timon and Pumbaa that they had violated a number of safety regulations, which meant they had to put 46 pennies in his safety jar. When Timon told the boss that he and Pumbaa did not have any pennies, Boss Beaver gave the duo jobs so that they could earn some.

While Timon and Pumbaa were working at the lumber mill, Timon violated three more safety regulations, so he put 49 pennies in Boss Beaver's safety jar. Boss Beaver then let Timon and Pumbaa go and warned them to never be unsafe again.

When Timon and Pumbaa left, they went to a door labeled "Fire," which Timon believed to be a fire escape. However, upon opening the door, he realized that the room was, in fact, a furnace. Though he closed the door, some flames escaped and caught on a barrel. Timon suggested that they hide the barrel before Boss Beaver could see it, but all the other doors were unsafe. Timon ultimately hid the barrel in the last door, but fireworks came out. Boss Beaver exited his office to see what was going on, but Timon denied that there were fireworks and put the boss back in his office.

One of the fireworks got in Boss Beaver's office, and Boss Beaver got caught by it. This caused a fire in the lumber mill, which endangered Boss Beaver. When Timon and Pumbaa rescued the beaver, the lumber mill burned down. Timon told Boss Beaver that the fire had been his fault, then gave him his last penny.[2]

Boss Beaver's Log Land

You break it, you buy it!
―Boss Beaver's motto for his amusement park[src]

Timon and Pumbaa arrived at an amusement park called Boss Beaver's Log Land. The duo argued about what to do, and Pumbaa outsmarted Timon with a reversal trick. Together, they visited a souvenir shop. Timon met an obnoxious kid named Boy Beaver, who broke everything in the shop and made Pumbaa believe it had been Timon's doing. Boss Beaver showed up and told the two that they had to buy whatever they had broken. When Pumbaa told Boss Beaver that he and Timon did not have any money, Boss Beaver gave the two jobs at the park.

Timon and Pumbaa worked at a local restaurant called Hot Log on a Stick, where they had to put logs on sticks. While Timon and Pumbaa did the job, Boy Beaver messed with the Hot Log Control, making the job difficult for them. Timon saw Boy Beaver and tried to reverse the control, but it was stuck. Logs then came out of the oven.

Afterward, Timon and Pumbaa worked at a monorail, with Pumbaa as the driver. Timon saw Boy Beaver nearby and tried to catch him, which made Pumbaa drive the monorail uncontrollably and end up breaking it. Boss Beaver then gave the duo a job in which they had to wear beaver costumes and hold beaver balloons. Timon saw Boy Beaver running and chased after him, leaving Pumbaa to hold both balloons and subsequently float up into the air. The balloons touched something pointy and popped.

Finally, Boss Beaver made Timon and Pumbaa ride the Log Flume with his son. Timon tried to convince Pumbaa and Boss Beaver that it had been Boy Beaver who had caused all the previous damage, but Boss Beaver did not believe him, and Pumbaa suggested that they give the kid a chance. Timon and Pumbaa rode the Log Flume, with Boy Beaver messing up the controls. Boss Beaver caught his son and finally believed Timon. After the Log Flume broke, Timon and Pumbaa bought the amusement park and renamed it "Timon and Pumbaa's Log Land." The two made Boss Beaver and his son work at Hot Log on a Stick.[3]
