Tikiti Melons

Information

The Pride Lands' elephants would be vulnerable without those melons. Especially during the dry season.

Scar, The Bite of Kenge

Tikiti melons are a type of fruit that grow in the Pride Lands.

Information

The melons help give the elephants the water they need to make it through the dry season. Common knowledge, really.

Ono, The Bite of Kenge

Tikiti melons are used primarily as a water supply for the elephants during the Dry Season, when the water supply runs out. If there are not enough tikiti melons, the elephants will not make it through the Dry Season.

Appearance

Tikiti melons have dark and pale green stripes on the outside, with magenta flesh and black seeds on the inside.

History

The Ukumbusho Tradition

Makini was given some Tikiti melons to use for the Ukumbusho.

The Bite of Kenge

The-Bite-of-Kenge (6)
Janja, Cheezi and Chungu are in the Pride Lands, trying to steal a supply of tikiti melons intended to help the elephants make it through the Dry Season. But before they can leave with their loot, the Lion Guard arrives, and quickly take back the tikiti melons from the hyenas. After saving nearly all of them, the Guard wonder how the hyenas found the patch, but also decide that they should stick around for a while in case they return, much to Bunga's disappointment.

After Scar hears of their findings, he orders Ushari to get his monitor lizard friend - Kenge - to help the hyenas obtain all of the tikiti melons to put an end to the Pride Land's elephant population.

The-Bite-of-Kenge (616)
After Kenge paralyses Kion, Fuli and Beshte, he and the hyenas move into the patch and start to roll all of the melons to the Outlands, But Bunga and Ono arrive to stop them. Once the enemies are seemingly down, Ono lands next to Bunga to congratulate him, but is unable to ascend quickly enough to avoid Kenge's bite himself. Then Bunga drags Ono off and reports to the rest. With no one to stop them, Kenge and the hyenas continue the scheme.

The-Bite-of-Kenge (830)
Makini teams up with still-mobile Bunga, having heard how important the melons are to the elephants during the dry season. While Bunga distracts Kenge and the hyenas (by pushing Kenge's buttons) as they pass through Embamba Canyon twards the Outlands, Makini quietly moves the melons behind a nearby rock. When she has finished, she is eventually joined by Bunga, and Kion arrives to perform the Roar of the Elders to blow all the enemies away. With the danger gone, Makini and the Lion Guard bring the melons back to the patch, with Bunga commenting that whilst he's okay with dealing with Kenge and the hyenas alone, taking the melons back was another matter entirely, causing everyone to laugh.
