Instagram

Instagram is a photo and video-sharing social networking service owned by Facebook, Inc. It was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, and launched in October 2010 exclusively on iOS.

Background

Gaga joined Instagram in June of 2012. She posted her first photos on June 21, 2012. When asked about her lack of profile picture, Gaga explained to fans that she thinks the website is difficult to use. The photographs uploaded are mostly taken from her iPad. She registered as "ladygaga1978" as "ladygaga" was already taken, but then claimed the name "ladygaga". The 1978 refers to Larry Flynt's Hustler magazine cover published in June of 1978. The cover inspired the "Poker Face" performance on the Born This Way Ball.

Hacking

Gaga's Instagram account was hacked on June 15, 2013. The hackers started to upload photos of her and then they erased it. On June 16, They followed to three mysterious accounts (@1, @lawl and @afg), uploaded a profile photo and changed the account description ([Fanpage] 1 Million little hamsters). On June 17, the account was reclaimed.
