—ZPZG |
ZPZG (지피지기) was a boy group under J-Star Entertainment. They originally debuted as a four-member group with the single "1% Chance" on September 26, 2014. On March 4, 2016, their agency announced that the group had disbanded.[1]
The group reformed in 2019 as a five-member group, with Ji Hoon as the only original member returning. ZPZG has effectively disbanded after J-Star announced on June 17, 2022 that they would be reorganizing their artists and split them into two groups: ABLUE and ANTARES, with Taehwang and Wonjun joining ABLUE and Hwi joining ANTARES.[2]
Their name is an acronym for "Zest Play Zest Grow".
History
2019–2022: Reformation, activities in Japan, and disbandment
On October 31, 2019, ZPZG posted a tweet on their Twitter account of them practicing, starting up activities again.[3] On February 14, 2020, the group officially announced their restart with their first scheduled activity, now with a five-member lineup.[4]
Ji Hoon left sometime in September 2021 after he was not included in the new concept photos released on September 27, 2021.[5] That same day, FC LIVE announced that ZPZG and ABLUE would hold an Online Live&Talk Event 2021 on October 2.[6]
On April 1, 2022, ZPZG announced that they would be holding the concert ZPZG Premium Live in Tokyo 2022 at J-Stage O! in Okubo, Shinjuku, Tokyo.[7]
The group has presumably disbanded after J-Star announced on June 17, 2022 that they would be reorganizing their agency's artists into two groups: ABLUE and ANTARES, and that they would be known as AA when performing together.[2]
