VIINI (비니), also known by his full name Kwon Hyun Bin (권현빈; or simply Hyunbin), is a South Korean model, singer, rapper and actor under Ghost Studio. He is a former member of the project group JBJ.
He made his solo debut on August 19, 2019 with the mini album Dimension.[1]
Career
2017-2018: Produce 101 Season 2 and JBJ
In April 2017, originally under his full name, he was introduced as a contestant on Mnet's reality survival show Produce 101 Season 2 representing KPLUS (then known as YG KPLUS). On June 16, he was revealed to have been elimitated during the finale and finished the competition in 22nd place, and unfortunately did not make the cut to debut as a member of Wanna One.[2]
He debuted as a member of JBJ on October 18, 2017 with their first mini album Fantasy.
On April 30, the members of JBJ shared handwritten letters and officially disbanded on April 30, 2018 with no contract extention.[3]
2019: Solo debut
On May 31, YGX announced that Hyunbin is in the final stage of preparations for his solo debut for a target release within the summer.[4]
On August 1, 2019, it was confirmed that he be making his solo debut on August 19 under his new stage name VIINI. On this day, he made his solo debut with his first mini album Dimension.[1]
2020: "Moon & Butterfly"
Coinciding his birthday on March 4, 2020, he made his first-ever solo come back with the digital single "Moon & Butterfly".[5]
2024: Departure from YG Entertainment, new agency
On January 3, it was announced that Hyunbin had departed from YG Entertainment after his contract expired the same day and decided not to renew.[6]
Coinciding his birthday on March 4, 2024, Ghost Studio announced that Hyunbin had signed on with the agency to promote as an actor.[7]
