Leo (리오) is a Korean-Australian singer-songwriter. He is a former member of the pre-debut boy group Trainee A.
He made his solo debut with the digital single "One Look" on August 17, 2023.
Career
2021–2022: Trainee A
On March 19, 2021, Trainee A opened up a YouTube channel with Leo being the first trainee to introduce himself via a vlog. Since then, he has been pretty consistent on uploading videos on to their YouTube channel, as well as on other of their social platforms; such as Instagram and TikTok.
On May 7, Leo teased a single that he has worked on called "Move On". He composed and wrote it all by himself just 4 days before his monthly evaluation. His inspiration to write this song came from a trainee friend who left. The emptiness of his friend's departure was the meaning behind this song. On July 4, Leo officially released "Move On" on the group's SoundCloud.
On July 9, Leo made a guest appearance on BTS's "Permission to Dance" music video.
On August 25, 2022, a video was posted revealing Leo's decision to leave Trainee A.[2]
2023: New agency, solo debut with "One Look"
On July 25, 2023, 131 Label announced Leo as their newest artist.[3] He will be making his solo debut in the second half of the year.[4]
On August 2, 131 Label announced that Leo would be making his solo debut with his first digital single "One Look" on August 17.[5]
2024: Come Closer, departure from 131 Label
On April 19, 2024, Leo unveiled a teaser for his upcomng comeback scheduled for May 9.[6] On April 23, he announced that he will be releasing a pre-release the next day, featuring labelmate B.I.[7] On April 24, the music video for "Pretty Plzzz" was released.[8] The following day, pre-orders for his first EP Come Closer opened.[9]
On December 28, 131 Label announced that their contract with Leo has come to an end.[10] Additionally, his b.stage will be closed down on January 2, 2025.[11]
2025: "Tenderly"
On February 26, 2025, Leo announced the digital single "Tenderly", set for release on February 28.[12]
