LAYSHA (레이샤) is a four-member girl group under S Media Entertainment and Double Media, their line up currently consists of Goeun, Chaejin, Hadam and Bitna. They began as a dance performance group in September 2014, and on May 12, 2015, they made their debut as an idol group with the self-titled digital single "Laysha".
History
2015: Debut with "Laysha", Seulgi's departure, Choim's addition and departure, Yoobin withdrawal, Hyeri's addition.
On May 12, 2015, LAYSHA made their debut with the self-titled digital single "Laysha" and with "Turn Up The Music" as their promotional song. The group's original lineup consisted of Goeun, Chaejin, Som, Seulgi & Yoobin. Shortly after their debut, Seulgi quietly left the group.
Choim subsequently joined the group to maintain their five-member system. In late-2015, Choim left the group, followed by Yoobin in early-2016. Hyeri would join the group in early-2016 effectively reorganizing LAYSHA as their best known four-member lineup.[citation needed]
2016: Comeback with "Chocolate Cream", comeback with "Party Tonight"
On July 20, 2016, they released their second digital single "Chocolate Cream".
On November 11, they released their third digital single "Party Tonight".
2017: Comeback with "Pink Label"
On December 18, 2017, they released their fourth digital single "Pink Label".
2018: New agency
On November 2, 2018, Goeun founded a new agency, A1 Entertainment in order to manage the group's future activities.[1]
2019: Som and Hyeri's hiatus, Hadam and Hayeon's addition and departure, Hayoung's addition and departure, Som and Hyeri's departure, Sia and Boreum's addition, comeback with "Freedom"
In March 2019, Hadam and Hayeon were introduced as guest members to fill-in for Som and Hyeri who, at that time, were on hiatus. Hadam and Hayeon left in May, and were replaced by Hayoung who promoted with the group until July.
On June 9, they announced through their official Instagram account that Som was on an extended hiatus due to sickness.[2]
On August 8, they confirmed that Som and Hyeri had left the group due to personal reasons but were on good terms.[3]
On August 9, they revealed two newest members, Sia and Boreum.[4]
On December 20, they released their fifth digital single "Freedom".
2021: Tour in China, Semi's addition, new agency, Semi's departure
In 2021, the group revealed a new guest member, Semi, for their tour activities in China, their concert tour was called "LAYSHA Bomba Live Hangzhou China Concert".
On November 19, news outlet TenAsia shared that LAYSHA had signed on with Double Media.
Once the tour in China was over, Semi left the group.
2023: Boreum's departure, Bitna and Rahye's addition, new agency, comeback with "Red Flower", comeback with "Summer Night", Rahye's departure, DJ Ina's addition, comeback with "Yes or Not"
On March 29, 2023, it was announced through their Instagram that Boreum had departed from LAYSHA due to health issues. Thus, LAYSHA will continue with three members.[5]
On April 3, LAYSHA announced the addition of two new members, Bitna and Rahye. Chaejin would also change her stage name to Rizell.[6] However, she went back to promote as Chaejin again shortly after.
On April 12, it was revealed that LAYSHA had moved to S Media Entertainment.[7]
On May 18, it was announced that they would return with the digital single "Red Flower" on June 9.[8]
On August 13, Goeun announced that they would be returning on August 20 with the digital single "Summer Night".[9]
On September 11, it was announced that Rahye had departed from the group and that the agency would be holding auditions for a new member.[10]
On November 10, the group began teasing their upcoming comeback featuring a new member, which was later revealed to be DJ Ina.[11] On November 23, the music video for their upcoming single "Yes or Not" was uploaded. On December 1, it was released as a digital single.
2024 - present: Sia's departure, Jian's addition, DJ Ina's departure, comeback with "Chocolate Cream II", comeback with "LAYSHA Party Tonight", comeback with "Domino", Jian's departure, Hadam's reentry.
Sometime in January 2024, Sia quietly left the group after it was found their Instagram account no longer follows her. It was assumed that she had been replaced by a new member Jian. On January 16, S Media Entertainment officially confirmed the departure of Sia, and the addition of Jian.[12] On February 1, it was announced that DJ Ina had left the group after two months of being a guest member.[13]
On February 1, the group began teasing their upcoming comeback with a new version of "Chocolate Cream" titled "Chocolate Cream II".[14] On February 6, it was shared that the song would feature Microdot.[15] The song would be released on March 18.
On March 26, the group released a remastered version of their 2016 song "Party Tonight" now titled as "LAYSHA Party Tonight".[16]
On April 12, the group re-released "Yes or Not" with four members. The original version of the song, which featured Ina and Sia, were deleted across streaming platforms a month prior.
On July 25, the group shared that they will be releasing the digital single "Domino" on July 30.[17]
On February 11, 2025, Laysha's official Instagram account stop following Jian, and start following former member Hadam. This started speculation about a possible change of members in the group, which was later confirmed due to a promotional video being uploaded featuring Hadam and the current members of the group.
