Hwang Ayoung

Hwang Ayoung (황아영) is a South Korean singer. She is a member of the K-hiphop co-ed group FreezyBone, and a former member of the girl groups BLACKMAMBA and Die.A Project. She a debut as a soloist on July 19, 2016 with the digital single "When Rain Stops".

She is best known for being a former Produce 101 contestant.

Career

2016: Produce 101 & solo debut

In January 2016, Ayoung became a contestant on Mnet's idol competitive survival show, Produce 101, where she represented Happyface Entertainment. She was eventually eliminated from the competition in Episode 10 with her final rank in 56th place.[1]

Following her elimination from Produce 101, Ayoung departed from Happyface Entertainment. In mid 2016, she participated in the collaboration single "Don't Give Up", which was released on August 29, 2016, and featured seven former Produce 101 contestants under the group name 101.[2] As an independent soloist, she released her debut digital single, "When Rain Stops", on July 19, 2016.[3]

Soon after her debut single's release, Ayoung joined Tirano Entertainment. With her agency, she released her second digital single, "Don't Cry", on November 14, 2016.[4] However, she left the agency sometime after the release of her second single.

2017–2018: BLACKMAMBA

Sometime in 2017, Ayoung joined ONO Entertainment. She eventually a member of their pre-debut girl group BLACKMAMBA.

As a trainee, Ayoung became a featured singer on singer JMVOK's digital single, "Be With You".[5] The song was later re-released in his first mini album, Peeps.[6]

Ayoung made a brief cameo in the competitive survival show MIXNINE where she along with the rest of BLACKMAMBA auditioned to enter the competition. Unfortunately, Ayoung was not selected to become an official contestant.[7]

BLACKMAMBA's debut was scheduled for April 2018, however, in early 2018, Ayoung departed from the girl group and agency due to unknown reasons. For the remainder of 2018 and the next few years, Ayoung's career as an idol was at a standstill, but she remained active on her SNS.

2021–present: FreezyBone

Sometime in 2021 or earlier, Ayoung became a member of an independent co-ed group formation, FreezyBone, made up of K-hiphop singers. With FreezyBone, she made her debut on August 31, 2021 with the release of their self-titled studio album, THE FREEZYBONE.[8] She has since remained active as a singer within the group and they primarily focus on live performances.

Relationship

On April 12, 2025, Chang Gyu announced that he will be getting married to Hwang Ayoung.[9] The couple eventually got married on April 19, 2025.[10]
