Chumchurum

Chumchurum (처음처럼), formerly known as Icia (아이시어) and Sida (사이다), was a girl group under HP Entertainment. Originally as Sida, they debuted on October 19, 2015 with their first digital single "It's You", under TwoL Company.

The group presumably disbanded in 2021 due to inactivity.

History

2015: Debut as Sida with "It's You"

On October 19, 2015, they made their debut under TwoL Company with the digital single "It's You" as Sida. The lineup consisted of Yoori, Arin, Sunmi, SunA, and Yeri.

Later, it was revealed the group was transferring to DAM Entertainment.[1] During this transfer, Arin and Yoori departed from the group.

2016-2017: Re-brand as Icia with "Time Bomb", lineup changes & "Sad Heel"

On February 14, 2016, it was announced that the group had reorganized into a four-member girl group with the addition of HyeonAh.[1] The same month, they released a re-recorded version of "It's You" with the new lineup on the 22nd.

On May 9, 2016, they re-branded as Icia with the digital single "Time Bomb". With this release, Yeri and Sunmi changed their stage names to Lee Ae and Back Jo, respectively.

In February 2017, Icia appeared to have underwent a lineup change as HyeonAh was replaced by Yeowoobi while SunA went on a hiatus due to health issues.[2]

In March 2017, it was revealed that SunA and HyeonAh had left the group and new member Hari was added.[3]

In July 2017, the group teased a comeback in September.[4] The following month, they revealed the title to be "Sad Heel" and released the concept photos, as well as the album cover for it.[5] During the rollout, Yeowoobi changed her stage name to Nayoon.[6]

In September 2017, Back Jo departed from Icia and was replaced by Hyogyeong the following month.[7][8] With the lineup changes, the release of "Sad Heel" was subsequently delayed.

On November 3, 2017, the group finally made their comeback with the digital single "Sad Heel", consisting of the new lineup.

2018-2019: "Are You Kidding?", lineup changes & initial disbandment

In April 2018, Lee Ae and Hari appeared to have left the group as they removed Icia from their Instagram accounts.[9] This was later confirmed as they were replaced by Vandi and Youmin the following month.

On November 17, 2018, they returned with the release of their fourth digital single "Are You Kidding?". After the release, Hyogyeong departed from the group in February 2019.[10]

In April 2019, they deactivated their fancafe and turned their Instagram account private, sparking disbandment rumors among fans. On May 13, 2019, a fan page for Icia shared that the group had disbanded, which was later confirmed by Nayoon herself as she commented: "Thank you so much so far~ I was so happy because of you".[11]

2019-2021: Reformation as Chumchurum, lineup changes & disbandment

Following the group's initial disbandment, they were revived as Chumchurum in July 2019 under HP Entertainment.

The group later disbanded due to in activity in 2021.

  • The original group name Sida stands for: Sparkle, Immortal, Delight and All, meaning that they are "the eternal light that everyone cheers for".[15]
  • Back Jo, Yoori, SunA and Nayoon were previously members of TwoL Company's rotational dance team Two L.[16][17]
  • Lee Ae, HyeonAh, SunA, and Nayoon (then under the name Sori) are former members of Black Queen.
  • Hyogyeong is a former member of the girl groups La_TTE, Switch and pre-debut girl group LABELUP.
