Wang Zhong (onyomi: Ō Chū) was the Wei's officer who have served four generation include Cao Cao, Cao Pi, Cao Rui and Cao Fang.
Role in Games
In Dynasty Warriors 7, he appear as enemy at Xuchang in Wu's story. He served as the unit leader and stationed at the center of Xuchang, his unit was between Wang Lang's unit and Liu Dai's unit. In Dynasty Warriors 8, he features in the Uprising in Xucheng mission during the Hypothetical paths, though he is regarded as a "peon" by Cao Pi despite his history. It is soon discovered that it was not the real Wang Zhong, rather, a decoy of Zuo Ci used to usurp Cao Cao from power. In Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires, he was a officer who wield the straight spear and the blue dragon sword. His unique strategy is trade.
In the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, Wang Zhong portrayal follows the same beat as his novel equivalent by giving him low stats in all fields with War being his best stat in the 50's range. In the thirteenth instalment, he is able to command archers with his proficiency falling under grade B. Notably, he is one of the several figures of Wei who does not get along with Cao Pi.
Historical Information
He was from Fufeng Commandery and served as canton chief. When the famine spread in Guanzhong region, there is a story that he must wait to eat the flesh of the dead to sustain his life. Then he fled to Jingzhou and was persuaded to join Liu Biao by Lou Gui, he rejected it and led his men of 1,000 went to join Cao Cao.
In 199, Liu Bei separates from Cao Cao by kill Che Zhou at Xuzhou. Cao Cao had him and Liu Dai (another) go to attack Liu Bei but failed.
In 213, he and Xiahou Dun, among others, encouraged Cao Cao to become Duke of Wei. There is a story that Cao Pi heard that he used to eat the flesh of the dead. therefore he pranked by attached the skeleton to the saddle on his horse.
In 224, Cao Pi, who is now emperor, ordered Wu Zhi to arrange a banquet for Cao Zhen. During this time, Wu Zhi mocked that Cao Zhen was fat. He and Cao Hong, who were also at the event, mocked same, which caused Cao Zhen to become angry. He died in 18 years later.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms
Have a role that he was Cao Cao's officer who was bring soldiers 50,000 men to attack Liu Bei at Xuzhou along with Liu Dai. Which he brought the Cao Cao's main flag to deceive Liu Bei that Cao Cao brought an army himself. Liu Bei didn't believe it and ordered Guan Yu to battle. He was lose to Guan Yu and was be the captive. Later, Liu Bei released him and Liu Dai to free but Cao Cao want execute him and Liu Dai after leraned about their failed but Kong Rong begged to be spared their life.
