Akemi Kanda (神田 朱未, Kanda Akemi, born November 10, 1978 in Nagoya) is a freelance Japanese voice actress. She considers the area's unique dialect one of her voice acting talents. As a graduate of the Tokyo Aoni Jyuku division, she was affiliated with Aoni Production. Kanda's known family is at least one older sister. She is known by several nicknames from fans, which include "Ake-chan", "Kana-chan", and "Akeko". Fellow voice actors call her "Kanchi". As of 2012, Kanda has announced her marriage to a regular company worker on her Twitter page.
Some of her hobbies include modern and Japanese dancing, watching Chibi Maruko-chan, doting on her pet cat, Rio, and raising a vegetable garden at her home. If necessary, Kanda carries a license to immediately resuscitate people without severe legal backlash.
Kanda admires the works of the late Hideko Takamine and Yoshie Taira, citing them to be inspirational to her own performances. She has been known to voice various types of female characters and younger boy roles, a few of her roles being Estelle Bright in The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, Nene in The Ambition of Oda Nobuna, and Ceylan Jones in the Japanese dub for Tenkai Knights.
