The Space Jump[1][2][3] is a predominantly multiplayer technique that debuted in Kirby Super Star.

General Information

The Space Jump is a technique that allows Player 2 (and Players 3 and 4 if applicable) to quickly warp to Player 1's location. Space Jump occurs automatically if a player is too far away from Player 1 by being offscreen; it can also be activated manually by pressing/holding a button or button combination, depending on the game.

Games

Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra

Space Jump can be activated manually by Player 2 by pressing A in Kirby Super Star or X in Kirby Super Star Ultra; these are the same buttons that Player 1 can use to create/remove Helpers. The Helper can stay as a star theoretically indefinitely by continuing to hold down the button. As these are also the buttons used by Tac to discard his ability if he has one, he will have to remove his ability before being able to manually Space Jump.

Kirby's Dream Land 3

Similarly to in Kirby Super Star, it is activated manually by Player 2 by pressing A; this is also the same button used to call Gooey. Unlike with Helpers in Kirby Super Star, Gooey needs to be a certain minimum distance away from Kirby for Space Jump to activate, and it cannot be held indefinitely. Gooey, however, destroys any Star Blocks in his way when Space Jumping back to Kirby.

Kirby's Epic Yarn

While not technically a Space Jump, Angie serves a similar role in multiplayer: she can be used to carry one player to the other; this ability is not restricted to Player 2. Angie can be summoned by pressing A; the player being carried can press 2 to make Angie fly faster. As Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn no longer features multiplayer, this feature does not appear in that game.

Kirby Mass Attack

While this game does not feature multiplayer, it does allow the player to control multiple Kirbys. Any Kirbys that are far enough offscreen will warp to the main group of Kirbys to prevent them from being held back, as the Kirbys often need to travel in unison.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land and Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe

Now with up to four players, Players 2, 3, and 4 can all use the Space Jump. It is activated manually by guarding (holding A in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, holding or ZL, SL with sideways Joy-Con/or ZR, SR with sideways Joy-Con in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe) and holding B in Kirby's Return to Dream Land or Up Button with sideways Joy-Con in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe. Since guarding cannot be performed in the air, Space Jump can only be manually activated while on the ground; it also cannot be held indefinitely.

Kirby Star Allies and Kirby and the Forgotten Land

Space Jumping cannot be performed manually, and instead only occurs automatically if other players get too far away from Player 1, typically be being offscreen.

In the Super Smash Bros. series

The Space Jump also appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, where it can occur during the Subspace Emissary whenever Player 2 fails to keep up with Player 1; this can also be manually triggered by holding the pause button.
