Upon consuming food, a Maxim Tomato, or a Candy, the player can transfer its effects (healing and invincibility, respectively) to the Helper or vice versa by touching each other; there is only a short period of time when this can be done after consuming the item. Players can initiate Face-To-Face even at full health, but this has no effect otherwise (unless transferring invincibility from Candy). Players only share the most recent item, so consuming multiple items before initiating Face-to-Face only transfers the effect from the last consumed item instead of the sum of all recently-consumed items.
Item Sharing works as it did in Kirby Super Star. However, since there are up to four players, healing from food or invincibility from Candy can be shared with multiply Kirbys. Only the player that initially consumed the item can share it; players that received the effects of the Item Share cannot further share it with others.
In Team Battles, the effects of food, Maxim Tomatos, Invincible Candy, and Mint Leaves can be shared with a Buddy using Item Share. CPUs will actively attempt to use Item Share with teammates unless the consumed item was for healing and the teammate is at full health. When using Item Share, a speech bubble with the word "Smooch" and hearts around it appears.
In Team Kirby Clash and its expanded eShop titles, players can use Feed Me to share the effects of food items, as well as the healing power of Doctor Healmore's Remedy.
The action of sharing consumed item properties via mouth-to-mouth is replaced with a high-five; its behavior is otherwise identical. Effects from stock items can also be shared.
