The Whales

The Whales (더 웨일즈) is a four-member rock band formed through JTBC's audition show SuperBand 2. The group ended in 6th place on the show and debuted on January 1, 2022 as a five-member band with their self-titled digital single "The Whales".

They disbanded on September 15, 2022.

Career

2022: Debut with "The Whales", Kim Hangyeom's departure and disbandement

The group debuted on January 1, 2022 with their first digital single "The Whales".

On April 4, the band announced through their Instagram that Kim Hangyeom decided to part ways with the group. They cancelled all schedules and temporally stopped activities to reorganize the team's direction due to the absense of the vocalist.[1]

On June 22, the band announced their second digital single, which was released on July 22.[2]

On September 15, leader Yang Jang Semin announced the band's disbandement on the group's Instagram.[3]
