Battle 174 is also called "The Gong of a Battle"
Summary
Shiba decided to test Takeda after the latter was waiting outside for 4 days. However, if Takeda fails any of Shiba's tests then Shiba made Takeda promise to never follow him again.
The first test was luck which was Takeda having to find a two-headed Pachinko Ball which would bless the holder with large wins. Shiba heard that it was somewhere around the gutter in front of the store. As soon as Takeda left, Shiba admitted that he was kidding to get rid of Takeda. However, Takeda quickly returned with one that he found in a nearby embarkment.
The next test was willpower by running to the sea and back while pulling a huge tire. Also to prove his success, Takeda has to bring back a Yamato Hoshi Hitode and a Kannatsu Nozaya Sea Slug back. And to make things harder, Takeda had the song "Tan-Tan-Tanuki" while doing 100 Hindu Squats in front of a police box.
Somewhere in the streets at night, Niijima was trying to get Freya to join the Shinpaku Alliance. Niijima bribed Freya by saying that by helping Shinpaku's future, she'll be fighting real martial artists instead of deliquents. Takeda came with a bag filled with the sea creatures Shiba asked and the tire he was dragging worned out into pieces saying that he's betting his life on it. As Takeda left, Niijima informed Kisara that the Shinpaku are facing off against YOMI.
Back at Shiba's shack, Takeda has passed Shiba's second test and explained that the policeman cheered him on and an old lady gave him a bento. Shiba tried to persuade Takeda to not train under him after showing how he lost an eye and his leg being broken when he thought boxing was the strongest. But Takeda saw that Shiba was still better than he was and wanted to at least be taken to his level. Shiba then asked Takeda what his best punch and quickly answered Left Straight. After hearing that their favorite punches are the same, Shiba decided to take Takeda on as his disciple. Takeda explained that he's fighting against YOMI and Yami who backs them up. After hearing that Takeda was fighting Yami (who were responsible for ending Shiba's boxing career), Shiba was overjoyed at having Takeda as his disciple. Shiba took Takeda into his shack, which has a boxing ring as his bed, to begin training. Takeda claims for Kenichi to wait for him to catch up.
