Demi-humans

Demi-humans (亜人, Ajin) are a humanoid species born with animal-like traits and special abilities.

Overview

Demi-humans live across the main continent, and although other countries respect their rights to a certain degree, they are openly treated as slaves in the Jioral Kingdom and hunted by their armies. For this reason many tribes of demi-humans choose to seclude themselves from human societies.

Background

At some point the land that border the Demon King Nation was controlled by many demi-human nations, but they were invaded by the armies of what would become the Jioral Kingdom. Although the different tribes fought against the invaders, the humans made use of recently developed slave spells making use of one of their racial traits, their true names, so the physically stronger demi-humans started to suffer from the lost on their numbers and become obligated to fight against their slaved comrades, finally losing the war. Although many of their population become slaves, some of the demi-humans tribes migrated to other lands to keep their freedom, while some others like the Ice Wolf Tribe remained in their former lands, living secluded and hidden from the human goverment.

Racial Traits

  • Enhanced Body.- Most of the demi-humans are born with stronger bodies that of the other species, being more agile and sharper in their movements they are often described as natural born warriors.
  • Sharper Senses.- Most of the demi-humans have a superior eyesight, sense of smell and hearing, being able to track their targerts long distance only using their senses.
  • Faster Maturation.- The demi-humans become adults at a younger age than the humans, acquiring their classes at the age of 11 or 12 years old. Meanwhile humans do it at least 3 years later.
  • Racial Job.- At the same way that the demons, the demi-humans have unique racial jobs acording their races that grant them special skills and abilities.
  • Racial Skills.- Some unique skills are handed down in the demi-human tribes acording their blood heritage like Setsuna's Ice Wolf King’s Lineage.
  • High Talent Values.- Meanwhile the human's average talent values are around 300, the demi-human's tend to be around 400, making them have greater stats rises while leveling up.
  • Lower Level Cap.- A common trait and weakness among the demi-humans is that they posses a lower level cap that the human and demon races. This is one of the reasons that humans are able to fight in even ground with them.
  • True Name.- All the demi-humans are born with a true name engraved in their souls that they known instictively. At some point, humans created a slave magic that grant complet control over the demi-humans using their true names, so nowadays humans slavers tend to torture the demi-humans that they capture to learn their true names in order to sell them as safe slaves. This only works when the master learns the name directly from the demi-human.

Known Tribes

  1. Ice Wolf.- One of the strongest tribes known, being born with the ability to use spiritual ice magic and cover their claws with magical ice. Their members rarely become slaves, making their market prices pretty high whenever they are captured. Their village was located in the Jioral Kingdom, but the tribe migrated after winning the battle against the Jioral Kingdom army with the help of Keyaru's group.
  2. Elves.- The elves are said to be a tribe that lives freely in a country located crossing the mountains near the Ice Wolf Village.
  3. Fire Fox.- The Fire Foxes are said to be a tribe that lives freely in a country located crossing the mountains near the Ice Wolf Village.
  4. White Tiger.- They are mentioned as one of the races of slaves offered at Keyaru in the slaves market. They are recognized by their physical strength, making them great warriors.
  5. Sand Dog.- They are mentioned as one of the races of slaves offered at Keyaru in the slaves market. They are recognized for their stamina and resilent bodies, making them good workers.
  6. Moon Cat.- They are mentioned as one of the races of slaves offered at Keyaru in the slaves market. They are recommend as night slaves, suggesting that they possess beautiful appearences.

Trivia

  • Demi-humans become adults at a younger age than humans. When Keyaru mets Setsuna he determines that she's already an adult by the standard of her race.
  • The term was created by the human race to difference themselves from the races with animal traits and the demons.
  • Along Keyaru's words, the reason why Jioral Kingdom was able to conquer the demi-humans was because they torture the prisioners and slave them with their true names. This hints the posibility that the Jioral Kingdom created the slave spell to control demi-humans with their names.
